Windows used to use its own numeric code within the graphic user interface instead of ASCII (I think versions 95 and 98). Now, they use the Unicode Character System (UCS-2) set by the Unicode Consortium which seems to expand upon the basic ASCII for global use.

Hi,

ASCII is indeed a standard, and microsoft is not in compliance with it. On www.jimprice.com/jim-asc.htm it is noted that "windows has a different notion about what the ... (upper 128) characters are. So, Microsoft is not really using ASCII, and this can be confusing. Both the standard and the microsoft charts are listed on that site, although they are indexed by hex value, which makes them hard to read. There are also links on the site that I have not followed that may contain what you need. You might also try http://www.pensacolasgreatest.com/ASCII.html.
